This bead was one of the first ones that I made that I liked. Of course it happened by accident. The bead starts off with 4 red dots one yellow. Carefully heat the outside and rake the dots. Each time I make it I get a new fun design.

Lots of layers in this bead. I started off with a small white base and added layers of transparent glass to create this effect. Light Purple was usedd to encase it. I got this technique from Corina Tettinger’s book Passing the Flame.

My lampworking class was fantastic. I still have one more session to go but I have bought a kit and I have been making beads out the wazoo. It will take me a while to get some good beads but I really enjoy it. So far I have made some interesting effects by accident. I am just starting to get a feel for controling the glass and the heat. I will post a few pics as soon as I get a chance. I recently ended my relationship with my boyfriend of two years. Over all it wasn’t a bad break up we just didn’t have the passion for each other anymore. We will most likely remain great friends since that is what we started out as. I will have alot of time to practice lampworking until I adjust to not seeing him everyday.
This Sat I am attending my co-workers wedding. I don’t have enough money to purchase a new dress for the wedding so I decided to wear a simple black dress and add some color to it using my accessories. I have a bright blue purse and I want to make a necklace to match but I am having some trouble. I very rarely have a day where I don’t know what to create in fact its usually the opposite, too many ideas and not enough time. I think that I am having some trouble since there will be so many people at the event that will see it. I tried a necklace using a technique I learned from artful beads but it didn’t really make that much of a statement to me. Then I thought I could make a charm necklace but I don’t want to look too busy. I will most likely end up making a long necklace of various blue strung beads since its one day away. So today I am on beading daily hoping to find something that inspires me. How do you come up with inspiration when your blocked?
I have signed up for a lamp working class at my local community college. I am so excited that I will actually be creating a bead with glass rods. I have always wanted to give lampworking a try but it is very expensive to purchase all the equipment without trying it first. The class is one 2.5 half hour session a week for 4 weeks. This is a huge step for me to expand my knowledge of jewelry making. I don’t my jewelry has a specific style and I think that will come from learning more techniques and finding my niche.
So after spending hours of my day reading a few bead blogs I felt the need to have my own. I have been creating my own jewelry since I was little. I am the type of person that looks at something and says I can make that for less. Then I am off to the craft store on a mission. Over the years I have only become more hooked on beads. I can honestly say not a day goes by that I don’t have my hands on a bead at some point or another. How productive I am varies day to day. My intent with this blog is to expand my beading circle and knowledge as well as keep track ideas, completed projects, favorite beads, interesting sites for information and supplies.
